Is it time for the Minnesota Vikings to change their uniforms?

It’s been a while since the Minnesota Vikings last made any dramatic changes to their uniform. With the NFL switching to Nike as their primary uniform designer in 2012, the Vikings were one of the first teams to get their threads altered.

It resulted in a crisp design for the Vikings that blended tradition with a bit of modernism. This might reek of bias, but Minnesota arguably has one of the best current uniform designs in the league.

Despite the greatness of the Vikings current uniform, it’s never a bad idea to add some new tweaks to a design. Especially since Minnesota has been rolling with the same design for almost seven years now.

Should the Minnesota Vikings come out with new uniforms?

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons both releasing new uniforms this week, it got the guys over at Bleeding Purple thinking if the Vikings should update their current design.

While it’s exciting for some fans to see their team come out with new uniforms, Minnesota doesn’t really seem too desperate for change. Unlike the Bucs, who were in need of something different after making their players suit up in a design that even Stevie Wonder wouldn’t want to be caught wearing.

One thing a number of Vikings fans have brought up recently though is the idea of a throwback uniform. Minnesota used to be able to wear these during the early part of the 21st century, but then the NFL’s strict one helmet policy put an end to that.

However, the league is rumored to be contemplating a change to their current helmet rule that would ultimately result in more teams being able to wear their classic designs.

Can you imagine Adam Thielen suiting up in the Vikings early 2000s away jersey just like his boyhood idol, Randy Moss? Or Danielle Hunter putting on the dark purple jersey and gray face mask like some of the great Minnesota pass rushers who came before him?

There would be endless combinations that the Vikings could choose from if the NFL did actually end up making a change to their current helmet restrictions.
