Rumors of the Minnesota Vikings discussing a possible trade with the Cleveland Browns for Odell Beckham Jr. began to swirl on Wednesday.

This time last year, good luck finding anyone who would believe a rumor that involved Odell Beckham Jr. landing with the Minnesota Vikings.

But why would people ever believe something like that could happen? The Vikings already had the best receiving duo in the game in Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, so there was no need for them to pursue a trade for someone like Beckham.

Flash forward to the current offseason, however, and Minnesota attempting to land the current Cleveland Browns receiver doesn’t sound too crazy. Diggs is now gone and Thielen is coming off of an injury-riddled 2019 campaign, so the Vikings should be exploring all of their options this year to upgrade their receiving corps.

Rumors of Beckham to Minnesota began on Wednesday when WFAN’s Marc Malusis posted on his Twitter account about his sources telling him a deal between the Browns and Vikings for the receiver was being discussed.

This rumor has since been denied by numerous reliable NFL insiders and the idea of Beckham actually ending up in Minnesota doesn’t really seem any more likely than it was a week ago. Still, it would be naive to just toss aside the fact that the Vikings could be interested in acquiring the current Cleveland receiver.

Minnesota fans just went through a similar experience a month ago when everyone was denying the possibility of the team trading Diggs only to see it actually happen when the Vikings sent him packing to Buffalo. So don’t rule out anything just yet, especially when Rick Spielman is still in control of Minnesota’s roster.

For those who still have their doubts about Beckham landing with the Vikings, let’s go over a few reasons why it should still be considered a legitimate possibility.
