The Minnesota Vikings have plenty of talented young running backs on the roster for 2020. Could they still select a ball-carrier in the 2020 NFL Draft to add to their strengths?

The Vikings have a deadly one-two punch in place for the 2020 season with Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. However, Christian McCaffrey just signed a massive extension with the Carolina Panthers and Dalvin Cook is slated to hit free agency after this season. Will the Vikings want to pay an injury-prone running back that much money?

Sure, Minnesota has plenty of talent behind Cook for the 2020 season. Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah can fill in at certain moments when asked, but they are far from game-changers. Alexander Mattison has the potential to take over as the starter if Cook leaves in free agency, but he needs help behind him.

This is a good year to have a future hole at running back for the Vikings. The back half of the draft is loaded with NFL talent at the position.

Running back may not be a pressing need at this particular moment, but it definitely needs to be considered. With plenty of picks on Day 3 of the draft, do not be surprised if the Vikings take an extra running back.
