For years, the Minnesota Vikings have relied on their ability to identify talent in the later rounds of the draft and coach them up with the help of Andre Patterson. While that move has found studs such as Brian Robison, Griffen and Hunter, one can’t help but wonder if the Vikings took that strategy and used it in the early rounds of the draft.

If the Vikings are looking for another athletic freak on the edge, K’Lavon Chaisson should be their guy. At his size, Chaisson represents a ridiculous amount of power and speed. It’s actually a shame he didn’t work out at the NFL Scouting Combine, because there’s a good chance he would have put up some ridiculous numbers while flashing his toolbox for scouts to see.

But then there’s the production. Pro Football Focus charted Chaisson with just 516 pass-rushing snaps over his career at LSU. That with a mediocre sack total doesn’t scream NFL monster, but it’s the kind of prospect that the Vikings love to develop.

The unknowns with Chaisson could drop him into the Vikings’ range at No. 22 or No. 25. If he’s there, Minnesota should have a hard time passing on him even with what they currently have on the roster.
