Derrek Tuszka (North Dakota State)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-4 | Weight: 251 pounds

2019 Stats:

  • 48 total tackles
  • 19 tackles for a loss
  • 13.5 sacks

If the Minnesota Vikings are looking for someone with traits and production, Tuszka is a guy they could have some interest in. While he played against FCS competition, the gap between the FCS and FBS has narrowed in past years and Tuszka was able to show his dominance.

With 13.5 sacks in his senior season, it’s clear that Tuszka knows how to rush the passer. What’s more intriguing for the Vikings is his athletic profile. Tuszka placed in the 70th percentile or higher in five drills at the NFL Scouting Combine and his 24 reps in the bench press could get even better with proper coaching (there it is again).

Pro Football Focus charted Tuszka with 56 pressures on 255 pass-rushing snaps last season and with the added ability to contribute on special teams, there’s a solid path for his development in Minnesota.

Perhaps this is a case of too much hype for a small school player, but if the Minnesota Vikings want to take a flier late in the draft, Tuszka wouldn’t be a bad direction to throw their chips in.
