Mekhi Becton – OT (Louisville)

Mekhi Becton is a player that a month ago no one would’ve thought had a chance of falling to the Vikings at pick No. 22. With the recent news that he had a flagged drug test at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, him falling now becomes an actual possibility, albeit a very small one.

Becton is an impressive specimen at 6-foot-7 and 364 pounds. The best part about this guy is what a violent blocker he is. He isn’t happy just blocking his man, he loves leaving them on their back looking up at the sky. Becton just flattens people.

It’s not often you see a guy who blocks so violently in college, but Becton did that on nearly every single snap. He is one of the few tackles who could come and an immediately be inserted into Minnesota’s starting left tackle spot, supplanting Riley Reiff.

The Vikings had a virtual meeting with Becton recently and they are clearly doing their homework in case he does fall to them. Something like a failed drug test can send guys tumbling down the board and Minnesota could benefit from his mistake.

Having him begin his career in the league’s substance abuse program isn’t great. But the Vikings landing a potential top 10 talent at pick No. 22 would certainly make up for it.
