Josh Jones – OT (Houston)

The Vikings filled two big holes in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. They were able to land a potential starter at wide receiver in Justin Jefferson and also at corner with TCU’s Jeff Gladney.

One need Minnesota has yet to address is their offensive line. The Vikings would love to upgrade at left tackle over Riley Reiff and they have been mentioned in trade talks with the Washington Redskins about Trent Williams, but nothing with that has happened yet.

One prospect who could supplant Reiff who is still on the board is Houston’s Josh Jones. For a man so large (6-foot-5, 319 pounds), he’s borderline graceful in the way he moves. He’s quick out of his stance and he instantly gets his big paws on the man he’s designated to block.

Jones’ technique does need quite a bit of coaching up, but if Minnesota can go through a semi-normal preseason and training camp during these strange times, then these issues could potentially be fixed and he could get a start very early in his career.

Jones is a fairly hot name and he will be one that many teams will covet early on the draft’s second day. With two picks in the third, fourth, and fifth rounds, the Vikings have plenty of ammunition to move up and get this guy to be their left tackle of the future if they want.
