Expectations in 2020

This is a tough season to figure out what to expect from rookies. At this point, it is hard to know if teams like the Minnesota Vikings will be able to hold normal rookie minicamps or even training camps in general. This may cause many young players to be extra green when preseason actually arrives.

Adjusting to the NFL level as a cornerback is a challenge under normal circumstances, Still, Jeff Gladney’s experience and skillset translate nicely to the NFL as well as a Mike Zimmer defense. His physical play will be welcomed into the locker room and the team will be able to ease him into games if they can rely on Mike Hughes and Holton Hill to be the starters on the outside.

The Vikings will be able to rely on Gladney to learn the playbook and execute those plays. His football IQ combined with instincts and long arms should help him acclimate to professional competition quickly.

He should immediately step into a role in the team’s defense with that role growing as the weeks go on. Seeing him grow from situational player to jack of all trades will be fun to watch as the season progresses, assuming he isn’t thrust into the starting lineup in the event of injuries.
