With the board falling heavily in their favor, the Minnesota Vikings were able to select Justin Jefferson with the 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Minnesota Vikings were in prime position when they were on the clock for the first time in the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday. After the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Reagor, it seemed like a no-brainer for the Vikings to go get Justin Jefferson, a star wide receiver out of LSU.
Jefferson was selected with the draft pick Minnesota received from the Buffalo Bills last month in return for Stefon Diggs. This alone will forever link the two wide receivers and create some big shoes to fill for the young Jefferson. Still, he enters a great spot as he leaves LSU and has all the tools to be a stud for the Vikings.
Minnesota had to upgrade at wide receiver at some point in this draft, so landing Jefferson without having to trade up was a huge bonus for them. They added a talented weapon to the offense and they were still able to keep their picks for later in the draft.
Jefferson is a dynamic playmaker who is ready for the NFL right now. But what exactly can the Vikings expect from their new receiver in 2020 and beyond?
