Jeff Gladney – CB (TCU)

Grade: A

This is a tremendous pick by the Vikings. Fans might have been a little worried when they didn’t take him with their first pick in the first round and when they traded back with the San Francisco 49ers. But Minnesota landed the guy many thought they would and he immediately gives the defense help on the boundary.

The Vikings traded pick No. 25 to get picks No. 31, 117, and 176. They end up getting their guy which looks like a phenomenal move by general manager Rick Spielman.

Jeff Gladney is a smaller corner (5-foot-10, 191 pounds), but he has length and astonishing ball skills. He can go up and get it and make a play on the ball. He has A-plus athleticism and he can mirror or turn and run with the receiver.

He should be able to take over Minnesota’s top cornerback duties as soon as he gets some experience under his belt.
