What to expect from Hand in 2020

Considering the Minnesota Vikings drafted two other cornerbacks ahead of Harrison Hand during the 2020 NFL Draft, expectations for the rookie defensive back should be quite low. In fact, if he does manage to make the 53-man roster, it would be a pleasant surprise.

His best chance of making the roster will be special teams. Playing on kickoff coverage units would give Hand more time to develop his skills to become a better defender and earn a bigger role with the team.

The most likely outcome is that Hand ends up on the Vikings practice squad, especially if he can flash a bit in practices, training camp, and the preseason. With competition being pretty deep at the position, it might be challenging for him to go too far up the depth chart as a rookie.

For now. Harrison Hand should be considered to be a bit of a bonus player. If he works out, he will join Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler as rookies who make an impact during the 2020 NFL season. Minnesota casting a wide net for cornerbacks is wise because it minimizes the chances of having a lack of quality defensive backs from this draft class.
