Vikings 2020: Way too early 53-man roster projection
By Adam Patrick
Quarterbacks (2)
- Kirk Cousins
- Sean Mannion
With the need for more depth in other areas of their roster, the Vikings will decide to only keep two quarterbacks for 2020. Obviously, Kirk Cousins is going to make the team and Sean Mannion will somehow manage to win the backup job once again.
Rookie Nate Stanley could turn some heads during training camp this year, but Minnesota will probably look to stash him away on the practice squad. Jake Browning is someone the Vikings like a lot, but the need to keep other position groups deeper next season will result in him being shown the door.
Running Backs (5)
- Dalvin Cook
- Alexander Mattison
- Ameer Abdullah
- Mike Boone
- C.J. Ham (FB)
It’s no secret that Dalvin Cook has dealt with injuries during his time in Minnesota. But Alexander Mattison also missed some games last year due to injury, so the Vikings are going to make sure they’ve got enough depth behind these two for next season.
After just signing a new deal with Minnesota, C.J. Ham will continue to clear holes in the run game and catch two-yard passes from Cousins in 2020.
