5 former Vikings who could come out of retirement and still play
By Nik Edlund
Brian Robison – DE
Brian Robison is the most recent Minnesota Vikings great to hang up the cleats. He was a surprise cut by the Vikings in 2018 and never played in the NFL again. Robison was a high energy player who was extremely quick. He had a knack for getting to the quarterback and finished his Vikings career with 60 sacks.
The Vikings could use a veteran backup in their defensive end ranks. They have two great starters in Danielle Hunter and Ifeadi Odenigbo but lack experienced depth. A veteran like Robison would be almost like having a coach on the field, and he’d have plenty of tips and advice for young pass rushers like D.J. Wonnum and Kenny Willekes.
Since retiring, Robison has been doing a series on Youtube which he basically takes a buddy like Everson Griffen fishing. He’s definitely keeping active, and since he only has been officially retired for just over a year, he isn’t that removed from having played in a game. It wouldn’t take him more than a game or two to shake off the rust and then be able to provide some situational pass rush for the Vikings.
