Jefferson has a chip on his shoulder

Back in 1998, the Vikings selected a receiver named Randy Moss with the 21st overall pick in the NFL Draft. Miffed that the teams ahead of the Vikings didn’t take him, Moss spent the majority of his career on a revenge tour, blazing a path as one of the greatest receivers of all-time and a spot in Canton in the process.

Now, Justin Jefferson probably isn’t going to go full Moss on the entire league. But there’s a chance he could be just as motivated.

Shortly after being drafted, Jefferson vowed that every team that picked a receiver ahead of him, “is going to pay.” While the first three names of Henry Ruggs (Las Vegas Raiders), Jerry Jeudy (Denver Broncos), and CeeDee Lamb (Dallas Cowboys) were expected to be off the board before the Vikings were on the clock, Jalen Reagor was a bit of a surprise to be picked before Jefferson was selected.

Perhaps we won’t see the 17 touchdowns that Moss lit the league on fire with during his rookie year. But there’s a chance Jefferson will have the same kind of motivation in 2020.
