Minnesota Vikings Battle No. 2: Third Wide Receiver

Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson are set to be the top receivers on the roster when the season begins. However, the depth behind them has been a topic of debate since the draft last month. Who will emerge as the third outside option for Kirk Cousins?

The Vikings signed former Tennessee Titan Tajae Sharpe to a one-year contract during free agency. His experience lends him a bit of an advantage over his competitions, but there are a lot of promising young faces to challenge him.

Olabisi Johnson had a productive rookie season in 2019, hauling in 31 receptions for 294 yards and three touchdowns. He was a solid third wide receiver despite being a seventh-round pick prior to the season. He seems to be the leader in the clubhouse for the third wide receiver on the depth chart right now.

Rookies K.J. Osborn and Quartney Davis will also have a chance to win the job, but they project as depth players more than early contributors. If the Vikings value experience in the system, then Chad Beebe and Davion Davis have an outside shot.

This seems like a two-man race for now between Sharpe and Johnson, but there are a handful of names who could sneak into the discussion.
