4. Letting Xavier Rhodes leave the Vikings

This one hurts. At one time, it looked as though Xavier Rhodes was a shutdown corner who could lock down any of the NFL’s top wide receivers. He had proven he could do it against players like Julio Jones, Odell Bekcham Jr., and many others. But then something happened.

The high level of play fans and the coaching staff had come to expect was no longer there following a massive contract extension. His level of play no longer matched his compensation and the team had lost their patience for him to bounce back.

Letting go of a cornerback who had so much previous success in his career is a hard decision, but with the backs up against a wall when it came to the salary cap and an opportunity to get a younger, cheaper corner was too tempting.

Now, Xavier Rhodes is a member of the Colts where he is hoping to rejuvenate his career. However, his compensation is much different as he makes only a small fraction of the money he was making in Minnesota.
