3. Recruiting Michael Pierce to the Vikings

The three biggest factors in putting together a quality team for the long run are keeping a steady flow of youth to the team, managing the salary cap well for your veterans, and making sure enough talent is brought in to keep the team a contender.

Sadly, it appeared as though defensive tackle Linval Joseph was beginning to decline entering his age 32 season and was among the top salary cap hits on the Minnesota Vikings roster. That meant something had to be done.

Following the release of Joseph, the Vikings locked down former Ravens big name Michael Pierce to take his place. Pierce is only 27 years old and should immediately fill the hole left as a run-stuffer for the Vikings.

Of course, filling Linval Joseph’s shoes will be a big task, but Pierce has embraced Minnesota and is ready to prove he can be the big man in the middle to eat up blockers and open up lanes for the Vikings pass rush going forward.
