Samuel Cosmi – OT (Texas)

The Vikings haven’t done the best job at drafting offensive tackles overall, but Brian O’Neill out of Pittsburgh has been an outstanding right tackle for the team over the last two seasons. The draft Ezra Cleveland from Boise State in the 2020 NFL Draft so the verdict is still out on him right now, but the potential is there.

Vikings fans are all too familiar with the lack of production from the team’s offensive line, which is why we are talking about two offensive linemen from this class. This time, it’s a pure left tackle. Samuel Cosmi, out of Texas, is a phenomenal prospect that should be getting a lot of first-round talks early in the evaluation process. While this tackle class might not end up being one of the better ones, the Vikings should be considering picking one of the best ones in this class.

Cosmi brings a ton of strength and power to his game. He’s someone that when he gets ahold of you, you’re not going anywhere. He gets across the face of that defender and turns him out of the running lane. He’s fairly athletic and works well as a puller or working to the second-level.

While Cosmi may go early, which, assuming the Vikings are in the 20-30 range with their draft pick, means that the Vikings may not get a shot at him unless they trade up. Nonetheless, this is still a prospect that they better have their eyes on early.
