Stefon Diggs shenanigans

Not even a year ago, the Vikings had to deal with another distraction during the season. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs was clearly unhappy with Minnesota’s offense and his role in it.

Diggs was often seen during games yelling on the sidelines and showing clear frustration when the offense was struggling to be productive. He also didn’t seem to enjoy the fact that the Vikings’ offense was becoming more run-heavy with Dalvin Cook being the focal point.

Diggs followed up his on-field frustrations by consistently making ambiguous comments on Twitter. He also held a press conference where he didn’t shoot down the possibility of being traded when asked about it by reporters.

Diggs’ displeasure with his role was all the talk during the first half of Minnesota’s 2019 season. Mike Zimmer along with fellow players and coaches were constantly asked about the disgruntled wideout. Despite the distraction though, the Vikings won four games in a row which was in part due to Zimmer and the veteran leadership he put together on his team.

Minnesota continuously denied Diggs’ behavior was a distraction, but it clearly was. The team also shot down rumors that he was unhappy.

The fact he was traded this offseason showed that there was certainly fire where the smoke was billowing when it came to Diggs and his role with Vikings.
