One look at Hunter’s 89 OVR rating from last year’s final update and it’s an ultimate head-scratcher for even the fans with purple-colored glasses. Hunter had the most sacks for a player before their 25th birthday last October and turned it into another 13.5 sack season for Minnesota, putting him eighth all-time in franchise history.
Hunter also was consistent, recording a 9.7 pass rusher productivity, which was the ninth-best rating among qualifiers per Pro Football Focus. Among the four players with a higher overall rating at left end, only J.J. Watt had a higher PRP and did so in a smaller sample size thanks to a torn pectoral muscle.
As far as on-ball edge defenders in the league, there are few that can match the athleticism and pass-rushing ability that Hunter possesses. That means that Madden 21 should be the first version of the game that puts hunter in the 90s from the start and perhaps makes him one of the best overall defensive ends in the game.
