Teammate Stefon Diggs entered the NFL in 2015. In those five years, Diggs and Rudolph have the same amount of touchdowns.

That’s right. Dearly departed Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph have snagged thirty touchdowns apiece in the last five seasons. The usual disclaimer applies: this is not an indictment of Diggs or his performance. This is boldfaced evidence that Rudolph’s acumen to score is on par with the Vikings top wideouts.

Rudolph doesn’t account for the same volume of receptions and receiving yards that wide receivers do–but he is targeted less and scores the same amount, or more. If you stop and ponder (gross word) that, it is both staggering and exemplary.

Also since 2015, Rudolph has scored more touchdowns than Zach Ertz, Jarvis Landry, Tyler Lockett, Golden Tate, Adam Thielen, Kenny Stills, Frank Gore, and Cameron Brate. That isn’t otherworldly, top-of-the-NFL company, but it is a crowd of players than one would probably expect to score more periodically than a tight end in a run-heavy offense.
