Among volume tacklers, Anthony Barr and Danielle Hunter were in the top five of the NFL in fewest missed tackles.

When an opposing ball carrier was in the grasps of Anthony Barr or Danielle Hunter in 2019, his chances of escaping were acutely limited. Of all defenders that amassed at least seventy tackles, missed tackle percentage was as follows:

  1. Dre Greenlaw, 49ers (2.1%)
  2. Kevin Byard, Titans (2.3%)
  3. Anthony Barr, Vikings (2.5%)
  4. Danielle Hunter, Vikings (2.8%)
  5. Taylor Rapp, Rams (2.9%)

Prior to the arrival of Mike Zimmer in 2014, poor tackling was a problem for, what felt like, fifteen years. This nuisance has been minimized considerably in the last six seasons. In fact, the Vikings missed 67 tackles in 2019–the second-fewest in the NFL behind the New England Patriots. Unsurprisingly, both teams finished in the exact same one-two order in 2018, as well.

Other noteworthy Minnesota Vikings who excelled in this 2019 missed tackle percentage metric included Linval Joseph, Eric Wilson, and Anthony Harris.
