No. 5 – 2017 Monday Night Football, Week 1
Sam Bradford hits Kyle Rudolph for a 15-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter of the 2017 season opener versus the New Orleans Saints thus solidifying victory on Monday Night Football.
There were several unique aspects of this game.
First, it was the first time Adrian Peterson had played a professional football game not wearing a Vikings uniform. Coincidentally, it was versus the Vikings. With six carries for 18 rushing yards, he was a total non-factor. He even had a spat with his new head coach, Sean Payton, as the game wound down to a 29-19 loss for New Orleans.
This contest also kickstarted the 2017 season and ultimately led to an NFC Championship game appearance where the Vikings fell to the Philadelphia Eagles. The season would be the Vikings most successful in nearly 20 years.
As for Sam Bradford, this was the greatest game of his nine-year career. Sam erupted for 346 passing yards on 27 for 32 passing completions versus attempts, three touchdowns, and a 143.0 passer rating. Of his 83 career games with St. Louis, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Arizona, this was the tops for passer rating he ever put forth in a single game.
To date, this was the last Monday Night Football game the Vikings have won.
