Mike Daniels – DT

Sleeping with the enemy. Daniels was a defensive tackle for the Green Bay Packers for the better part of seven seasons. In 14 match-ups versus the Vikings, he recorded 8.5 sacks, 19 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for loss.

In theory, Mike Daniels would replace (and immediately be better than) current defensive tackle Shamar Stephen. The problem with Stephen is that he is supposed to be a 3-technique defensive tackle that increases the pass rush–but he does not increase the pass rush.

Daniels would provide that, perhaps in a less-sexy way than, say, Sheldon Richardson did in 2018. Daniels spent last season in Detroit but only started two games.

Should the Minnesota Vikings ink Daniels, he would presumably also battle Jayln Holmes and rookie James Lynch for the starting 3-technique gig. What’s more, he is 31 years-old and would probably be available at an affordable tender.

Heck, Daniels even made the Pro Bowl in 2017.
