Kyle Rudolph – TE

Currently, the great Steve Jordan is the only tight end in the Vikings Ring of Honor, but Kyle Rudolph will likely be the next.

Jordan’s career numbers are very impressive as he totaled 498 receptions for 6,307 yards and 28 touchdowns during his time with Minnesota. He was more of a big-play type of tight end who averaged 12.7 yards a reception.

Rudolph doesn’t bring that big-play ability that Jordan did, but he’s closing in on his career numbers nonetheless. While only averaging 9.8 yards a reception, he has hauled in 425 passes for 4,154 yards and 47 touchdowns in his career with the Vikings.

While he may not catch Jordan in the yardage department, he’s obliterated his touchdown numbers and that is really where Rudolph makes his money in the league. The guy is an awesome weapon in the red zone and has made some impossible catches in the back end of the end zone.

Rudolph is currently under contract with the Vikings through the 2023 season. It’s unclear whether or not he’ll actually play for the team that long and with his high cap number combined with the emerging Irv Smith Jr., chances are he won’t.

Even if Rudolph plays two more years with Minnesota, he should pass Jordan for receptions and continue to have that touchdown mark. He could go down as the Vikings greatest tight end of all time and that will no doubt get him into the team’s Ring of Honor.
