Danielle Hunter – DE

The Vikings have three defensive ends already enshrined in their Ring of Honor and it is an elite trio. Jim Marshall, Carl Eller, and Chris Doleman are the three and if he keeps up at the torrid pace he’s currently at, Danielle Hunter could be the fourth and dare I say, best of the bunch.

Eller is Minnesota’s career sack leader with 130. Closely behind him is Marshall with 127 and Doleman comes in at fifth overall with 96.5 in his time with the Vikings.

Hunter has only been in the NFL for five seasons and he already has 54.5 sacks. That is an average of almost 11 sacks per year. He’s under contract for four more years and if he stays at this average pace he’ll finish with 89.5.

The thing is, when his contract is up he’ll be just 29-years-old and could easily play another four seasons for Minnesota after that. He could potentially finish his career in purple with well over 140 career sacks.

Hunter isn’t just a sack master. He’s extremely good against the run as he already has 193 solo tackles in his career. When he’s finally done, he could shoot way up and well into the top 15 on the Vikings all-time tackle list.

Hunter is a freak of a human and he is easily one of the best defensive ends in the NFL today. While it’s unclear whether or not he’ll end up as Minnesota’s best pass rusher of all-time, he will certainly join the mix of his purple forefathers and be honored for his impressive play on the field with a spot in the Ring of Honor.
