Move to third all-time in passing touchdowns for the Vikings

Kirk Cousins needs just 11 passing touchdowns to become the placeholder of third on the Vikings all-time list.

Cousins is already the best Minnesota quarterback of all-time via the passer rating metric. But as eras have changed, passer rating has a tendency to be “inflated” compared to the era of Fran Tarkenton.

Therefore, the “best Vikings quarterback of all-time” designation must be taken with a grain of salt and subsequent perspective.

Nevertheless, he is rapidly climbing the Minnesota history books. Barring injury, he will likely become the Vikings third-most prolific passer of touchdowns by Week 5 or 6 of the upcoming season.

In doing so, he will surpass Warren Moon (58), Brad Johnson (65), and Wade Wilson (66). After that, Cousins looks upward at Daunte Culpepper (135), Tommy Kramer (159), and Fran Tarkenton (239). His next victim would be Culpepper and that would probably come during the 2022 season.

Cousins’ conquest of Vikings history is not limited to touchdowns. With a robust season of 4,235 passing yards, he would also supplant Wilson for the team’s third-most passing yards of all-time.
