Sean Mannion – QB

Like Shamar Stephen, the Vikings’ infatuation with Sean Mannion as their backup quarterback is extremely confusing. Especially in a season that Minnesota is entering where they could potentially lose Kirk Cousins for a few games if he happened to test positive for the COVID-19 virus.

If Cousins has to miss any time at all this year, the Vikings are doomed. Mannion has never proven that he possesses any of the qualities necessary to be a successful quarterback in the NFL.

He hasn’t even thrown a touchdown pass since he entered the league in 2015.

Minnesota apparently likes what Mannion can offer on the sidelines as sort of another coach to help out Cousins. Great, but there are plenty of quarterbacks who can offer the same thing while also having the ability to lead a team to a few emergency wins from under center if needed.

If there was ever a year that the Vikings needed to upgrade their backup situation behind Cousins, this is that year. However, Minnesota is apparently fine with their 2020 season going up in flames if Cousins has to miss any games due to injury or a positive COVID-19 test.
