5 Vikings offensive players on the bubble entering training camp
By Nik Edlund
Brandon Dillon – TE
Brandon Dillon was a heartwarming story a year ago. He came in as an undrafted free agent on a team that was already loaded with tight end talent.
Despite the odds, he made the Vikings final roster. However, he did little in the regular season, appearing in just one game and playing a total of seven offensive snaps.
Dillon was helped a year ago by the fact that Minnesota’s wide receiver corps was so thin. They only kept four receivers, which is unheard of, and it allowed them to keep Dillon around.
This year, the Vikings could keep up to six receivers and they will most likely only keep three tight ends because of this.
Dillon will have to battle every day at practice with fellow tight end, Tyler Conklin. He’ll have to be a more consistent receiver, a better blocker, and just go harder on every rep.
Dillon’s chances of making the team are probably even less than they were a year ago. However, he’s already defied the odds once, so it’s possible that it’s Conklin who is cut instead.
