Vikings Training Camp: Candidates For Mr. Mankato 2020
By Nik Edlund

CB Kris Boyd
Despite being a second-year player, Kris Boyd was a late-round pick a year ago, and still hasn’t established himself in the league. That makes him a candidate for Mr. Mankto 2020. Boyd should’ve gotten the title of Mr. Improvement last year, as he grew from a player who looked very cuttable, to a guy who made an impact on special teams and began making plays on defense.
Boyd could continue to grow this preseason, and if he does it could be enough for him to earn the coveted title of Mr. Mankato. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him continue to develop and climb the cornerback depth chart. He clearly takes coaching to heart and applies what he learns in practice on game day.
He has been in the Vikings offseason program and has no doubt been studying this defense and is ready to take the next step. The Vikings could see this improvement every day in practice and his teammates could also take notice. If he continues his special teams’ prowess too, he could be one of the bigger defensive playmakers in Vikings’ camp. This would surely lead him to the title of Mr. Mankato.
