  • Kirk Cousins
  • Sean Mannion

Whether fans like it or not, Kirk Cousins appears to be the man for the Minnesota Vikings for the foreseeable future. Luckily for everyone, Cousins has been accurate and efficient since joining the team, delivering passes at a high rate to receivers at all levels of the offense.

Cousins hasn’t missed a single game due to injury or illness since becoming a starter for Washington in 2015, so fans had better knock on wood that he will repeat that feat in 2020 because the options behind him are not good.

Although Sean Mannion is considered to be the backup for Cousins, there is no way fans should feel comfortable if he needs to take over as the starter for any period of time. Mannion confirmed that when stepping in for Cousins in the regular-season finale last year and throwing two interceptions with zero touchdowns against the Bears.

Meanwhile, expect Minnesota to use one of their protected practice squad spots on rookie quarterback Nate Stanley out of Iowa. They can keep him there and use him as a QB3 without worrying about losing him to another team. If needed, they can activate him during the season.
