  • Alexander Mattison

Of course, one of the big stories for the Minnesota Vikings has been the status of Dalvin Cook. Seeking a contract extension, Cook sounds like he may be willing to stage a “hold-in” during training camp to prove that he wants to get a long term deal with a healthy contract.

This puts the Vikings in a tough spot considering their star running back had never broken 1,000 yards from scrimmage before his 2019 campaign with Minnesota and only had six total touchdowns prior to his breakout season last year. Those should be some interesting negotiations to watch unfold.

Second-year running back Alexander Mattison will serve as the team’s primary running back with Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah filling in when needed in their specific roles. Abdullah is the shiftier running back while Boone is more of a power runner, so expect those two to be used to their best abilities even that means seeing a lot of them on special teams.

C.J. Ham will return as the team’s fullback but could see the field a bit less if the team can get better run blocking from their offensive line. The Pro Bowl blocker should be a huge asset in pass protection this season as well.
