Defensive ends (4)

  • Danielle Hunter
  • Ifeadi Odenigbo
  • D.J. Wonnum
  • Anthony Zettel

It’s weird not seeing mainstay Everson Griffen in this grouping. While there is still a chance the pass rusher could return to the Minnesota Vikings this season, it seems as though this year will begin the Danielle Hunter show at defensive end.

Minnesota will likely Hunter with Odenigbo, a player who emerged as a capable pass rusher last season with 23 total tackles, seven quarterback takedowns, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble. He should fill in at Griffen’s former spot.

As backups, the Vikings should want to see a blend of experience and potential. The experience will belong to Anthony Zettel, This will be Zettel’s first season with Minnesota but his fifth year in the league after getting 7.5 sacks with four teams before arriving in the land of 10,000 lakes.

The potential will be D.J. Wonnum. If fans didn’t know any better, they would see close to a carbon copy of Danielle Hunter in the fourth-round pick out of South Carolina. He will need some time to develop and adjust to the NFL level and doing so behind Hunter is the perfect opportunity for him.
