New deal for Cook seems inevitable

Dalvin Cook’s negotiations for an extension have been one of the biggest Vikings storylines this offseason and rightfully so. Cook is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL right now and he’s currently due to make less money than 55 other running backs this year.

After some people laughed at Cook’s reported threat earlier this offseason to hold out of training camp until Minnesota gave him a new deal, there are now many who believe an extension for the running back will likely be completed sooner than later.

Most recently, KSTP’s Darren Wolfson declared that he believes, “it’s when, not if,” when it comes to the Vikings giving Cook a new contract and that an extension, “absolutely gets done,” between the two parties.

The Minnesota running back is currently scheduled to speak to the media this week on August 14. Will a new deal between Cook and the Vikings be completed by then in an effort to avoid the entire press conference being about his contract situation?
