The Minnesota Vikings could see their schedule change for the 2020 season.

When the Minnesota Vikings 2020 schedule was released earlier this year, the majority of it featured games that will begin at 12 p.m CT. In fact, 75 percent of the Vikings matchups this year will kick off on Sundays at 12 p.m. CT.

Of Minnesota’s four games that won’t start in the early afternoon this season, only two of them will be primetime matchups. The Vikings have a Sunday night game in Week 5 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks and then in Week 10, they will travel to face the Chicago Bears in a Monday night battle.

With a 14-4-1 record in games that start at 12 p.m. CT since 2018, Minnesota should be thrilled about this year’s schedule. However, some recent events could result in a few changes to the Vikings’ current schedule before their season begins in September.

Vikings Rumors: Schedule tweaks in store for Minnesota this year?

With the cancellation of the college football season apparently becoming a realistic possibility on Monday, there has been some chatter that the NFL could be looking to move some of their games this year.

If the college football season does end up getting canceled this year, the league could decide to change their 2020 schedule to include games on Saturdays and even on Fridays according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter explained that if there is no college football, TV networks are going to have a need for more programming on these days and the NFL could jump at the opportunity to spread their schedule out even further each week.

With the likelihood of there being no fans in attendance for games this season as well, the league would have a much easier time when it comes to switching matchups around.

Now, this is far from a guarantee since there has been no official decision made yet on the status of the 2020 college football season for all of the major conferences as of Monday. But some NFL schedule changes as a result of college football being canceled is something that is a very real possibility.

So Minnesota’s once favorable schedule might end up having some matchups get switched around and they could potentially be playing a few of their games on either a Friday or a Saturday this season.
