Dalvin Cook answered questions about his possible extension with the Minnesota Vikings.

For the first time since he last appeared in a game for the Minnesota Vikings, Dalvin Cook spoke to the local Twin Cities media on Friday and to no ones’ surprise, there were a lot of questions sent his way about his current contract situation.

Earlier this offseason, it was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Cook was ready to potentially hold out of training camp and possibly the season if the Vikings were unable to give him a, “reasonable,” extension.

Well, Cook has been a full participant in Minnesota’s training camp this year and on Friday he revealed if he will be suiting up for the team in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers even if he still doesn’t have a new deal.

Dalvin Cook will be ready to play for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1

Among the multiple questions about his current contract situation, the talented running back was asked if was fine with hitting the field for Minnesota’s first game of the upcoming regular season without a new deal from the team. According to Cook, it doesn’t sound like much will prevent him from suiting up for the Vikings in Week 1.

"“I haven’t thought about that. I’ll let my agent and the Vikings do whatever they’ve got to do on the business side. I love playing here in Minnesota. I love being here. I love being around the guys. I love football, obviously. That hasn’t been a thought on my mind. I’m just going to go out there and work hard every day and I’m going to be ready to play come Week 1.”"

Obviously, the 25-year-old running back would love to get an extension from Minnesota before the team’s first game of the season. But he’s also aware of the business side of the NFL and that things sometimes don’t always work out the way everyone would like them to.

Still, his commitment to being on the field against the Packers in Week 1 has to be encouraging for the Vikings. Minnesota has also made it clear in the past that they would love to keep Cook around well after the upcoming season, they just want to make sure a deal can be reached that is fair for both parties.

When taking questions on Friday, the Vikings running back also revealed that he never planned to hold out of training camp this year despite it being reported by ESPN.

Cook did his best to let it be known that his main focus is on Minnesota and delivering the franchise its first-ever Super Bowl victory. It’s not hard to understand why the Vikings like this guy so much.
