5. Washington Football Team at Minnesota Vikings (2014, Week 9)

  • End of 3rd Quarter Score: 20-14, Washington
  • Final Score: 29-26, Vikings

About one month after Bridgewater and the Vikings upended the Falcons, Minnesota did the same to the Washington Football Team.

For a historic frame of reference, this game saw massive Minneapolis protests regarding the former nickname of the Washington franchise. A change was not effectuated in 2014 as a result, but a name cancellation would indeed follow–six years later.

For Washington, this game was among the final handful that quarterback Robert Griffin III would headline. Kirk Cousins would formally take over the reins of the Washington franchise about ten months later.

On this particular day, it was again the Teddy Bridgewater and Matt Asiata show. Bridgewater tossed for 268 aerial yards and a score while Asiata scored another three touchdowns. This was also the game in which Vikings tight end Chase Ford scored his only career touchdown.

Minnesota’s maturing defense flexed in the fourth quarter allowing just one score in the final period. Bridgewater authored another chapter to this youthful legacy scripting a second comeback in just five weeks. With less than four minutes to play, Asiata punched in a one-yard touchdown, and Minnesota was once again victorious at TCF Bank Stadium.
