5 things to know about Vikings rookie WR Justin Jefferson
By Dustin Baker
We know that Justin Jefferson was the first selection in the Minnesota Vikings 2020 NFL Draft. But what else is there know about him?
The Minnesota Vikings snatched LSU wideout Justin Jefferson with the 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Overall, 14 LSU Tigers were selected in this year’s draft and Jefferson was the third one from the school to go off the board behind quarterback Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) and linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson (Jacksonville Jaguars).
Jefferson, a 2019 National Champion, will be asked to immediately contribute for the Vikings due to the departure of Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills this offseason. Minnesota’s 21-year-old rookie could potentially secure the job as the team’s No. 2 receiver to be Adam Thielen’s running-mate this year.
For people who follow the Vikings, most would know that Jefferson is theorized to be a volcanic playmaker. And, the consensus is that he has the tools to effectively replace Diggs’ output.
Jefferson’s will have a veteran signal-caller in Kirk Cousins throwing him the football, an upper-echelon group of tailbacks to take the pressure off the passing game, two handsy tight ends in Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith Jr., and then the aforementioned Thielen for mentorship. In terms of a system to enter and learn, the rookie receiver is an ideal one.
Those are the broadly-themed things we know about Jefferson, so let’s have a look at some items that we may not know about the young receiver.
