Bisi Johnson – WR
With an injury forcing Adam Thielen to miss a good portion of the 2019 season, Bisi Johnson actually ended up finishing second in catches among all Vikings wide receiver last year.
Not much was expected out of Johnson last season since he wasn’t selected by Minnesota until the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. But during last year’s training camp, he quickly emerged as someone worth keeping around.
Entering his second season with the Vikings, Johnson is back and he’s primed to make a bigger impact for the offense. After the first few practices of this year’s training camp, he appears to be in the lead to land the role of Minnesota’s No. 2 receiver.
Johnson has been getting the majority of the snaps with the first-team offense during two-receiver sets. He hasn’t been making the highlight plays, but it’s been clear that he has a better understanding of where to be on the field this year compared to when he was a rookie in 2019.
Everyone is assuming that rookie Justin Jefferson is going to open up the regular season as Minnesota’s No. 2 receiver. But with the way Johnson has been looking during training camp so far, it’s going to be hard for the rookie to pass him on the depth chart.
