Dantzler is from the same neck of the woods as Jefferson

Cameron Dantzler attended Mississippi State from 2017 to 2019. As a Bulldog, he played in 31 games and intercepted five passes before declaring for the NFL draft in 2020.

Minnesota selected Dantzler with a third-round pick this year and he is the first corner drafted in the third round by the Vikings since the team selected Josh Robinson from UCF in 2012.

Hailing from Louisiana, Dantzler was born in the town of Hammond. At Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Hammond, he played quarterback and cornerback for the football team.

The rookie corner was not the only player Minnesota grabbed during this year’s NFL Draft from the state of Louisiana. With their first pick in the draft last April, the Vikings chose former LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Heck, Minnesota even took Irv Smith Jr. in last year’s NFL Draft and he is from Lousiana too.

On Jefferson, he is from Destrehan‎, Louisiana, which is about fifty miles from Hammond, Dantzler’s hometown. What this means is that we need to close our eyes and ears hope the two rookies weren’t raised as New Orleans Saints fans.
