5 things to know about Vikings rookie CB Cameron Dantzler
By Dustin Baker
He was college teammates with Montez Sweat
Montez Sweat was taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Football Team. Prior to his rookie campaign in Washington, he played at Mississippi State during the 2017 and 2018 seasons with Cameron Dantzler.
Sweat also played for two seasons at Michigan State before being dismissed from the team for personal reasons.
But after that, Sweat anchored the front end of the Bulldogs defense for two years while Dantzler helped protect the back end.
Overall, Sweat played quite well during his rookie campaign with Washington. He totaled seven sacks and was on the field for 64 percent of Washington’s defensive snaps in 2019.
Minnesota and Washington hooked up in Week 8 meeting at U.S. Bank Stadium last season and the Vikings were able to leave victorious by a final score of 19-9. Sweat totaled four tackles in the losing effort.
He’ll have a salivating opportunity in 2020 to improve as the team drafted Chase Young out of Ohio State to occupy the defensive end position opposite Sweat. These two have all the hype and potential to be a frightening pass-rushing duo.
