Speaking of Randy Moss…

The Vikings toppled the Tampa Bay Buccanneers in Week 1 of the almost-storybook 1998 season on September 6 and Cameron Dantzler was born on September 3, 1998. Yes, this should make you feel old, and, yes, this is a neat fact that you likely hadn’t realized.

That Week 1 matchup with the Bucs was the first of 15 regular-season wins Minnesota would go on to tabulate during in 1998. Ironically, the only game the Vikings lost during that season was to the same Tampa Bay team in Week 9.

Trent Dilfer was the signal-caller for the Bucs in 1998 and these were the days when they were still NFC Central division rivals with Minnesota. Late in that contest, Tampa Bay fullback Mike Alstott punched in a six-yard touchdown about halfway through the fourth quarter.

The Vikings failed to respond and fell to the Bucs by a final score of, 27-24. The 24 points that Minnesota scored was their lowest point-total output of the entire season.
