Riley Reiff – LT

By the time you are reading this, Riley Reiff might have already been released by the Vikings. On Monday, Minnesota reportedly gave Reiff the choice to take a pay cut or head out the door for good.

The Vikings left tackle was apparently told to make his decision by Tuesday. Based on a report from ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio on Monday though, it sounds like Reiff has already started to say his goodbyes in Minnesota.

Since the addition of Yannick Ngakoue swallowed up the majority of their cap space, the Vikings are looking for ways to create more spending money before the regular season. With Reiff currently having a 2020 cap hit of $13.2 million, it’s not hard to understand why Minnesota approached him about a pay cut.

But with the offensive lineman already telling his teammates that the Vikings are probably going to release him, it seems like he’s pretty much a goner.

If Reiff is indeed out the door, Minnesota will have less than two weeks to find someone who can protect Kirk Cousins’ blindside before they take on the Green Bay Packers in their opening matchup of the 2020 season. Should be fun.

(Update – Reiff has reportedly agreed to a restructured contract to remain with the Vikings this season.)
