Even though he wasn’t able to land an extension, Dalvin Cook will enter the 2020 season as the Vikings’ starting running back. Coming off an impressive 2019 campaign, Cook will be looking to perform even better this year so that he can cash in during free agency in 2021.

With a full season now under his belt, Alexander Mattison might be a bigger factor for Minnesota’s offense this year than he was in 2019. If Cook has to miss a few games this season, the Vikings offense would be just fine with Mattison as their top option in the backfield.

Due to his ability to contribute on both offense and special teams, Ameer Abdullah gets the nod over Mike Boone for the team’s third running back spot.

After earning his first Pro Bowl selection last year, C.J. Ham is a lock to make Minnesota’s roster this year, especially when he doesn’t really have any other legitimate fullback competition in the locker room.
