Adrian Peterson returns to the NFC North in one-year deal with Lions

Adrian Peterson will face the Minnesota Vikings twice in 2020.
Looking back on the career of Adrian Peterson, it’s hard not to reminisce about the days when the former Minnesota Vikings running back would smash through defenses and set franchise records for the purple and gold.
Since then, he’s bounced around the league a bit and he will make another stop on his tour of the NFL during the 2020 NFL season after he was released by the Washington Football Team earlier this year.
He didn’t stay a free agent for very long as it is being reported that Peterson has found a new home with a team in the NFC North. Here is the tweet from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Twitter:
It will feel really odd seeing Adrian Peterson wearing Honolulu blue for the Detroit Lions but the fit makes sense. Not only have they struggled to find a running back combination that can get things done on the ground but they need someone to compliment their pass game to make their offense more complete.
A one-year deal is great for the Lions because then they aren’t investing a lot in the 35-year-old running back and they can evaluate how he fits in the team’s offense at a low cost. However, it does appear as though Peterson has a lot of fuel left in the tank and could be a valuable asset for Detroit.
Of course, Peterson landing in the NFC North means he will face off against the Minnesota Vikings twice during the 2020 NFL season and possibly a third time if the two teams clash during the playoffs. Either way, Minnesota Vikings fans should expect to see Adrian Peterson this season.
