6 recently cut free agents the Vikings might explore

2. Damarious Randall (SS)
If this cornerback-turned-safety sounds familiar, it’s for a bittersweet reason. Randall played the first 39 games of his career with the Packers from 2015-2017. A first-round talent, the 28-year-old recently spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns and is now looking for work.
The Minnesota Vikings are suddenly a team with little-to-no depth at the safety position.
Last season, Randall started 11 games in Cleveland, and by his standards, it was a down season for the Arizona State alumnus. It was the first season of his five-year career than he caught nary an interception.
With some tutelage of head coach Mike Zimmer, though, Randall could be an outstanding depth player for the Vikings. He had a respectable 2018 season with the Browns, grabbing four interceptions and forcing a 79.6 passer-rating-against while starting 15 games with the upstart Browns.
Minnesota has two safeties at the moment — Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris. Yes, that is the best safety tandem in the business. Yet, at some point, these two men will need to take a breather during games.
Randall fits.
