2. Ameer Abdullah, running back

Fans seem to underestimate the value of a player on special teams but the fact that Ameer Abdullah seems to have lost the return gigs to K.J. Osborn means the Minnesota Vikings likely see a lot of value in Abdullah as a running back.

Still, the purple and gold not only have the one-two punch of Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison but Mike Boone showed up to camp ready to play this year and looking like he is in the best shape of his life. Still, Minnesota decided to keep the fourth halfback.

If Abdullah survives roster adjustments, it will be because the Vikings will use him as a change-of-pace back and a receiver out of the backfield in a situational role and as insurance in case something happens with the players above him on the depth chart.

There is value in keeping Abdullah, but the team needs to fill other roles, such as safety, before worrying about keeping a fourth running back that might no longer the return man in Minnesota this season.
