The top 10 pass rushing duos in Minnesota Vikings history
By Tim Arcand
6: Chris Doleman and Keith Millard (1985 – 1990)
- 6 seasons
- 167 games
- 107.5 sacks
Chris Doleman makes his second appearance in the ranking along with Keith Millard. Starting alongside each other for most of six seasons this duo was nearly unstoppable. Both joined the team in 1985 as first-round draft picks, becoming instant starters. The Minnesota Vikings selected Millard 13th overall in 1984 and Doleman fourth in 1985. Millard’s career started with a detour in the USFL before joining the Vikings and Doleman in 1985. A knee injury to Millard derailed his season in 1990 and affected his career, as he never regained the form that got him named First-Team All-Pro in 1988 and 1989. Doleman duplicated that honor in 1989 as they combined for 37 sacks that year—the most in any year of any duo.
Doleman and Millard averaged 17.9 sacks per season, including the 1987 season where they only played 12 games as the league used replacement players for three games and canceled a fourth.
Milliard finished his career with the Vikings in ninth place all-time with 53 sacks.
5: Jared Allen and Kevin Williams (2008 – 2013)
- 6 seasons
- 189 games
- 111.5 sacks
Jared Allen makes his second appearance in the ranking with Kevin Williams. This pairs the franchise’s third and sixth career sack leaders. Williams recorded 60 of his 63 career sacks playing for the Vikings.
Williams, a first-round draft pick for the Vikings in 2003 made an immediate impact starting all 16 games as a rookie. By the time Allen joined the team five years later in 2008, Williams was a three-time First-team All-Pro. Both players would repeat these honors again in 2008 and 2009 while playing alongside each other on the right side of the Vikings defensive line.
The 111.5 combined sacks for this duo is the third most in the ranking.
