Key Losses

Stefon Diggs – WR

  • New Team: Buffalo Bills

For whatever reason, Stefon Diggs wasn’t happy with his role on the Vikings roster and he wanted out. So Minnesota granted his wish and sent him off to the Buffalo Bills to attempt to try and catch passes from Josh Allen.

Linval Joseph – DT

  • New Team: Los Angeles Chargers

During his tenure with the Vikings, Linval Joseph was able to elevate his game to an exceptional level. Joseph is now a member of the Los Angeles Chargers and he will be sorely missed in the middle of Minnesota’s defensive line, especially with Michael Pierce’s decision to opt-out.

Everson Griffen – DE

  • New Team: Dallas Cowboys

Until it didn’t happen, it felt like Everson Griffen was going to return to the Vikings this year and continue to suit up for the only team he’s known since entering the NFL in 2010. But Griffen ended up signing with the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota will have to find someone new to conduct pregame speeches (anyone but Kirk Cousins, please).

Xavier Rhodes – CB

  • New Team: Indianapolis Colts

Xavier Rhodes saw his performance continue to trend in the wrong direction last season and the Vikings felt it was best to part ways this past offseason. Rhodes is now with the Indianapolis Colts and he will be hoping that a change of scenery results in him playing closer to the All-Pro level that saw him shut down some of the best receivers in the NFL.

Other notable departures: Mackensie Alexander (CB), Jayron Kearse (S), Trae Waynes (CB), Stephen Weatherly (DE), Josh Kline (RG)
