If you’re looking for Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers stats and factoids, you’ve come to the right spot.
A rare peel-back of the curtain: Dustin Baker, here. Some of you reading this will know that I mass-post Minnesota Vikings statistics to my account on Twitter. I’ve done so since last January and have accumulated quite the vault of all-things Vikings. Before the official commencement of the Vikings season, I decided it’s an apropos time to show off the war chest.
The Vikings and Packers have never met during Week 1 in Minnesota. It will be a first for both teams in that regard. Meeting in Week 1 is nothing new, though. The teams have danced in the first matchup of the season six times — all at Lambeau Field. In the six contests, the Vikings and Packers have evenly split the series. For a while anyway, the 2020 Week 1 game will be the rubber match.
From an all-time perspective, the Packers lead the series 54-62-3 (.466) including playoff meetings. Recently, the two teams have a competitive rivalry. This more-or-less corresponds to the arrival of Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer. There was a stretch from 2010-2015 when the Vikings only won a single game versus the Packers — in 12 tries. It was vomit-inducing.
On the whole, let’s have a peek and some interesting statistics surround the two teams (and mainly the Vikings).
